01 · First Things First
The Ascent Collaborative is a human optimization and regenerative wellness center in Costa Mesa, California. Founded in 2010, it brings together 22 vetted technologies and a collective of 11 heart-centered practitioners under one roof, focused on cellular repair, recovery, longevity, and measurable change at the cellular level.
It was built before "biohacking" had a name, and it remains one of the deepest and most unique technology stacks in Orange County.
None of those. Ascent is a human optimization and regenerative wellness center for people serious about longevity, cellular health, and performance.
We are not a spa, so the focus is measurable cellular work rather than pampering. We are not a gym, so the work happens through recovery and regeneration technology rather than exertion. And we are not a medical clinic, so we do not diagnose or treat disease. We sit in a category of our own, which is exactly why Men's Journal called us "the gym of the future."
No. Our clients range from elite athletes and high performers to people recovering from surgery, managing fatigue, navigating hormonal shifts, or simply wanting to age well at the cellular level.
You do not need to know the technology before you arrive. That is what the first consultation is for: we match you to the right modalities based on your goals, not the other way around.
Most first visits begin with a consultation so a practitioner can understand your goals, history, and what you want to move. From there, we may recommend a body composition or bioenergetic assessment to establish a baseline, then match you to the technologies and practitioner best suited to your needs.
The goal of the first visit is direction. You leave knowing where to start and why, instead of guessing.
For most first-time clients, yes. A 30-minute consultation lets us match you to the right technology and practitioner instead of guessing. If you are an experienced biohacker who already knows the modalities you want, you can book a session directly, and the team will flag anything that should be sequenced differently.
Comfortable, loose clothing with no metal accessories, no heavy makeup, and no perfume. Skip caffeine and alcohol before energy-based sessions such as BEMER, BioCharger, and Pulse PEMF, so your nervous system can actually respond to the work. Drink water, and eat light.
02 · Logistics
You can book directly through our online scheduler on the booking page, or by calling the studio at (949) 781-5769. If you are not sure what to book, start with a consultation and we will build the path with you.
Most single-modality sessions run 15 to 45 minutes. Multi-modality stacks, for example BEMER + NanoVi, then LightStim, followed by a CVAC session run 60 to 90 minutes. Body composition scans, M.E.A.D. analysis, and Qest4 bioenergetic analysis are scheduled in their own time blocks. The exact length for each service is shown in the online scheduler.
We are at 150 Paularino Ave, Suite D-170, Costa Mesa, CA 92626, serving Costa Mesa, Newport Beach, Irvine, Laguna Beach, and the wider Orange County area. You can reach the studio at (949) 781-5769. For current hours, see the booking page or call ahead, as session availability varies by practitioner and technology.
Sessions can be rescheduled or cancelled up to 24 hours in advance with no fee. Inside the 24-hour window, the session is charged in full so the practitioner's time is honored. Memberships and packages follow the same window. Same-day reschedules due to illness are reviewed case by case, so just call the studio.
Ascent does not bill insurance directly. HSA and FSA cards are accepted for eligible services, and we can provide an itemized receipt for any service so you can submit it to your plan. Reimbursement varies by plan, so check with your administrator before booking if eligibility is the deciding factor.
Yes. Gift sessions and packages can be purchased through the studio. Call (949) 781-5769 or email the team and we will send a gift certificate the same day. For consultations, the recipient will complete their own intake form before their first visit.
03 · The Stack
You do not have to figure that out alone. We start from your goal, recovery, longevity, sleep, pain, focus, immune resilience, or performance, and work backward to the technologies that support it. A short consultation, and often a baseline assessment, is how we build a plan that fits you specifically.
If you prefer to explore first, the technologies hub lays out all 22 with a plain description of what each one does.
They work through completely different mechanisms. CVAC, or Cyclic Variations in Adaptive Conditioning, uses rhythmically changing air pressure inside a pod to challenge the body to adapt, with no exertion required. PEMF, or pulsed electromagnetic field therapy, delivers electromagnetic pulses to support microcirculation and cellular signaling.
Many clients use both, because they address different layers of recovery and adaptation. A practitioner can explain how they sequence together for your goal.
Both are PEMF technologies, but they operate at different intensities for different purposes. BEMER is low-powered PEMF focused on foundational circulation and microvascular support, gentle enough to be a daily, foundational session. PULSE is high-powered PEMF aimed at deeper tissue, recovery, and more intensive applications.
Think of BEMER as the foundation and PULSE as the targeted, higher-intensity tool. They are complementary, not interchangeable.
Yes, and most regular clients do. Stacking technologies in a deliberate sequence is where a lot of the value lives, for example pairing circulation support with cellular signaling and light therapy in one visit. The order matters, which is why a practitioner builds the stack rather than leaving it to chance.
It depends on your goal and the technologies in your plan. Some clients come several times a week during an intensive recovery or longevity protocol, while others come weekly or for periodic resets. Foundational technologies like BEMER are designed for frequent use, while others are used more selectively. Your practitioner will set a cadence that matches what you are working toward.
Start with a consultation and tell us the goal in your own words. We organize our work around outcomes, so whether you are managing post-surgical recovery, fatigue, brain fog, hormonal balance, or athletic performance, there is a combination of technologies and a practitioner suited to it. You do not need to name a device, just the result you want.
04 · Safety & Suitability
The technologies we use are generally well tolerated and non-invasive, and most sessions are relaxing rather than strenuous. That said, no single technology is right for everyone, which is why every new client is screened during the consultation. If something is not a fit for your situation, we will tell you and adjust the plan.
Several of our energy-based technologies are not recommended during pregnancy. If you are pregnant or think you may be, please tell us before booking, and check with your physician first. We will only work with technologies that are appropriate for your situation.
An implanted electrical or electronic device, such as a pacemaker or defibrillator, is a contraindication for several of our energy-based technologies, including PEMF and BioCharger. Let us know during intake. Many of our other modalities may still be appropriate, and we will build your plan around what is safe for you, in coordination with your physician where needed.
Most clients feel relaxed, energized, or grounded after a session. Some people notice mild, temporary effects as the body responds, such as feeling tired, thirsty, or unusually relaxed afterward. These are typically short-lived. If you have a specific medical concern, raise it during your consultation so we can plan accordingly.
We do, and many clients come to us alongside care they are receiving elsewhere. We are a wellness and optimization center, not a substitute for medical treatment, so we coordinate with your situation rather than replace it. Please share any conditions, medications, or implanted devices during intake so your practitioner can choose appropriate technologies.
05 · Evidence
We describe our approach as evidence-informed and experience-tested, and we are deliberate about that distinction. Some of our technologies have device-specific, peer-reviewed clinical trials behind them, including BEMER, SCENAR, BallancerPro, FireFly, LightStim, NanoVi and the InBody analyzers. Others rest on a strong body of research into the underlying modality, such as PULSE PEMF and laser therapy.
A third group, including BioCharger NG, EVOX, Qest4, M.E.A.D., NuEnerChi, and CVAC, does not yet have independent trials published under the device's own brand name. We use those as wellness support, assessment, or biofeedback tools, and we say so plainly rather than overstating the research.
It varies by person, by goal, and by technology. Some clients notice a shift in energy, sleep, or recovery after the first few sessions, while cellular and longevity-focused work tends to build over a series of sessions and consistent use. Where measurable baselines exist, such as a body composition scan, we can track change over time rather than relying on how you feel alone.
Some of the devices in our stack carry FDA clearances for specific uses, while others are used purely as wellness, assessment, or biofeedback tools rather than as medical treatments. Clearance is device and indication specific, so the honest answer differs by technology. We are happy to walk you through the regulatory status of any specific device during your consultation.
No. Ascent is a human optimization and regenerative wellness center, not a medical clinic. Our assessment technologies are wellness and educational tools, not diagnostic devices, and our sessions are not a substitute for medical care. If something in an assessment points to a concern that belongs with a physician, we will tell you so.
Each technology page in the technologies hub includes a science section with the relevant peer-reviewed studies and an honest note on the strength of the evidence for that device. If you want to go deeper, the team can point you to the primary sources during your visit.
06 · Investment
Pricing depends on the technology, the session length, and whether you are booking a single session, a package, or a membership. Current session and package pricing is listed on the pricing page, and the team can recommend the most cost-effective path once they understand your goals.
Yes. Because many of our clients use foundational technologies regularly, packages and memberships are available and are usually the better value for an ongoing protocol. Details and current tiers are on the pricing page, or just ask during your consultation.
Some of them, yes. A selection of the consumer-friendly products and partner brands we use is available through our products page. Larger clinical and professional systems are handled through our technology division, Ascent Certified Technology.
07 · The People
It means 11 independent, heart-centered practitioners working together, sharing a single vetted technology stack. Rather than one provider doing everything, you have access to a collective of specialists, each with their own discipline, who can hand off and collaborate on your plan. It is a model that is rare in Orange County, and it is one of the things that makes Ascent different from a single-owner facility.
Ascent was founded by Heather Hiniker. After reversing a debilitating autoimmune diagnosis through the kind of regenerative and cellular work the center is now built around, she set out to create the standard she wished had existed. That origin is the emotional foundation of the brand and the reason the focus has always been real, measurable change rather than quick fixes.
Yes. You can read about each member of the collective on the practitioner pages and request the one whose specialty fits your goals. If you are not sure who to choose, we will match you during your consultation.
08 · For Practitioners
Yes. Ascent Certified Technology is the distribution and education arm of Ascent, working with practitioners, medspas, performance centers, and wellness entrepreneurs who want to integrate vetted technologies into their own practices. The difference is that we are not a distributor that also runs a center. We are a center that also distributes, so every device we place has been stress-tested with real clients in a real, busy practice.
A general distributor sells you a device. We integrate technologies we have already validated for real outcomes, real clients, and real revenue, then support you with proven protocols, training, and implementation so the device does not end up collecting dust. When we make a recommendation, it reflects more than a decade of in-the-trenches work in our own flagship center. We also guarantee best manufacturer pricing. In many instances, we can save our clients significant cost.
