Biofeedback & Photobiomodulation | Costa Mesa, CA

F-Scan & FireFly.

F-Scan is a frequency-based biofeedback assessment that maps how the body responds to thousands of stressors, helping reveal where deeper stress may be sitting. FireFly is a multi-spectrum light therapy that pairs with those findings to support cellular repair, circulation, and immune resilience where it is needed most.

How It Works

Two tools, one strategy.

F-Scan and FireFly are used together at Ascent because they answer two different questions. One helps us see where the body is under strain. The other helps us support it. Pairing assessment with targeted light is what makes this a more precise approach than light alone.

F-Scan frequency assessment

F-Scan is a frequency-based biofeedback tool used in the electroacupuncture tradition. You hold a gentle electrode while the device reviews thousands of frequency signatures and measures how the body responds. In minutes, it can highlight response patterns that may relate to microbial, environmental, or physiologic stress, giving the practitioner a broader view than symptoms alone provide.

FireFly light therapy

FireFly is a multi-spectrum photobiomodulation system using red, blue, green, and near-infrared light delivered as photons into the tissue. It works in part through mitochondrial stimulation, supporting cellular energy production, and may help promote nitric oxide release to support circulation. Guided by what F-Scan surfaces, its light can be directed toward the areas carrying the most stress.

What clients use it for

Insight, then support.

F-Scan

Fast insight

Reviews thousands of frequency signatures in a single session to show where the body may be under the most strain.

F-Scan

Broader visibility

May highlight stress patterns associated with bacteria, parasites, fungi, mold, candida, viruses, and other burdens.

F-Scan

Personalized direction

Adds a layer of insight beyond surface symptoms, helping guide a more targeted and personalized next step.

FireFly

Cellular repair

Supports deep cellular repair and recovery through mitochondrial stimulation and improved cellular energy.

FireFly

Circulation & lymph

Helps promote circulation and lymphatic movement while supporting immune activity and tissue healing.

FireFly

Targeted protocols

Can be used within protocols focused on parasites, mold, candida, Lyme co-infections, and viral burden.

Client outcomes vary. Sessions support general wellness and are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease.

Who It's For

Built for people who need support that goes deeper.

F-Scan and FireFly are a strong fit for clients dealing with chronic stress patterns, unexplained symptoms, immune burden, or recovery that feels stuck. The pairing is most useful for people who want to understand what may be driving how they feel, then support it directly. At Ascent, both are used inside a wider adaptation and regeneration strategy, never in isolation, and F-Scan is an assessment layer that complements, rather than replaces, physician evaluation.

  • Clients with chronic or unexplained symptoms seeking a deeper look

  • People with immune burden or recovery that has plateaued

  • Those navigating mold, candida, parasite, or viral stress patterns

  • Anyone wanting assessment-guided support rather than guesswork

Founder of Mindful Living & Wellness

Kenna holds a Master's degree in Holistic Nutrition with a clinical focus on gut health, digestive dysfunction, detoxification, immune balance, and nervous system support. She takes a root-cause approach, identifying deeper patterns of imbalance and building personalized strategies that support the body's natural ability to recover and regulate. At her own practice, Mindful Living & Wellness, she uses F-Scan frequency technology and FireFly light therapy as foundational tools, pairing them with practical lifestyle and nutritional guidance. She is known for a compassionate presence and an ability to make complex health insights feel clear and actionable.

"My work starts with understanding what the body is actually responding to, then supporting it from there."

What a Session Feels Like

Calm, gentle, and revealing.

The F-Scan portion is comfortable and non-invasive. You simply hold an electrode while the scan runs, using very gentle microcurrents with no sensation of treatment and no recovery time. Many clients are surprised by how much the conversation opens up once patterns appear on screen.

FireFly is quiet and noninvasive as well, with targeted light directed to the areas that matter most based on what the assessment shows. Sessions are practitioner-guided and tailored to the individual rather than run on a rigid protocol. Frequency and duration vary, and an initial series is often used to gauge how well the body is responding before mapping the next phase of support.

COMMON QUESTIONS

F-Scan & FireFly, answered.

What are F-Scan and FireFly used for at Ascent?

F-Scan is used as a frequency-based biofeedback assessment to help identify stress patterns that may be connected to deeper underlying burdens.

FireFly is then used to support the body, primarily within protocols focused on microbial and pathogen-related stress such as parasites, mold, candida, Lyme co-infections, and viral burden, as well as cellular repair, immune function, and overall recovery capacity.

Why are the two used together?

They answer different questions. F-Scan helps reveal where the body may be under the most strain, and FireFly delivers targeted multi-spectrum light to support those areas. Pairing assessment with light allows support to be more specific to the patterns being identified, rather than relying on light alone.

Does F-Scan diagnose disease?

No. F-Scan is not a standalone medical diagnostic tool and should not replace physician evaluation or traditional testing. At Ascent it is used as an additional assessment layer to help guide a more personalized wellness approach.

Is FireFly the same as standard red light therapy?

No. FireFly goes beyond standard red light therapy by using 8 distinct wavelengths across four light spectrums (blue, green, red, and near-infrared) along with frequency-based inputs. Each spectrum acts at a different tissue depth, and that combination allows for a more targeted and layered approach than red light alone.

How many sessions are typically needed?

This varies based on the individual and the level of support needed. In many cases an initial series of sessions is used to evaluate how the body is responding and to help guide the next phase of care.

Are there any contraindications?

For F-Scan, caution is generally advised for those with pacemakers or other implanted electrical devices, during pregnancy, or in situations where electrical stimulation may not be appropriate. FireFly is noninvasive and drug free. As with any of our technologies, anyone under active medical care should follow practitioner and physician guidance before beginning.
