THOR & Aspen laser.

THOR and Aspen are clinical laser systems that deliver photobiomodulation, focused wavelengths of light that create change at the cellular level. Together they cover the full range of laser therapy at Ascent, from gentle systemic photobiomodulation to high-power deep-tissue work for pain and recovery.

How It Works

One modality, two instruments.

Both lasers work through photobiomodulation. Photo means light, bio means life, and modulation means change. Specific wavelengths of light are delivered into the body, where cells absorb that light energy and use it to support tissue repair, calm inflammation, and encourage the body's natural recovery response. THOR and Aspen reach for that same mechanism at two different intensities, which is why they sit together as one laser offering.

THOR Laser

Broad photobiomodulation

THOR delivers Class 3B and Class IV light therapy across a wide range of applications. Its lower-to-moderate power makes it well suited to cellular signaling, gentle systemic support, and broader photobiomodulation work where coverage matters more than depth.

Aspen Laser

High-power, deep tissue

Aspen is a high-power Class IV system built for depth. Its higher wattage penetrates further into tissue, which makes it the choice for musculoskeletal pain, tendon and joint recovery, and the kind of athletic rehab where deeper structures need to be reached.

What clients use it for

Targeted light for real recovery.

Pain relief

Focused laser energy may help ease musculoskeletal pain and stiffness in a specific area.

Faster recovery

Supports the recovery of tendons, joints, and soft tissue after training, injury, or surgery.

Calmer inflammation

Designed to help settle localized inflammation as part of a wider recovery plan.

Tissue repair

Encourages the body's natural healing response in the area where the light is applied.

Deeper reach

Aspen's high-power Class IV energy penetrates further to address deeper, more stubborn structures.

Whole-system support

THOR's broader photobiomodulation supports cellular signaling and gentle, systemic recovery.

Client outcomes vary. Sessions support general wellness and are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease.

Who it's for

Targeted relief for active bodies.

Laser therapy fits clients who are dealing with pain, recovering from injury or surgery, or pushing their bodies hard and wanting to recover faster. It is a non-invasive, drug-free option, and at Ascent it is used inside a wider adaptation and regeneration strategy rather than in isolation. Your practitioner decides which system, area, and dose make sense for you on the day.

  • Athletes and active people managing training load and soreness

  • People with persistent musculoskeletal pain or joint stiffness

  • Clients recovering from surgery, injury, or a recent procedure

  • Anyone building a layered, drug-free recovery routine

What a Session Feels Like

Warm, focused, easy.

Your practitioner positions the laser over the area you are working on. Many clients feel a gentle, comfortable warmth, which is more noticeable with the high-power Aspen system. The session is non-invasive, there is no downtime afterward, and eye protection is worn whenever the laser is in use.

Sessions are practitioner-guided and tailored to your body and your goal, not run on a rigid protocol. Laser is often paired with other recovery work in the same visit, and your practitioner will guide how it fits into your broader plan.

Frequently Asked

Laser Therapy, answered.

What is the difference between the THOR and Aspen lasers?

Both deliver photobiomodulation, but at different intensities. THOR covers a broad range of Class 3B and Class IV applications and suits cellular signaling and gentle systemic support. Aspen is a high-power Class IV system built for depth, which makes it the choice for deeper musculoskeletal pain, tendon and joint recovery, and athletic rehab. Your practitioner selects the right one for your goal.

What is photobiomodulation?

Photobiomodulation, or PBM, is the use of specific wavelengths of light to create change at the cellular level. Cells absorb that light energy and use it to support tissue repair, calm inflammation, and encourage the body's natural healing response in the area where the light is applied.

What do clients use laser therapy for at Ascent?

Most commonly for pain relief, faster recovery from injury or surgery, calming localized inflammation, and supporting tissue repair. Many clients use it as a drug-free layer within a broader recovery and regeneration routine rather than on its own.

Does a laser session hurt?

No. The treatment is non-invasive and most clients feel only a gentle warmth, which is more noticeable with the high-power Aspen. There is no downtime afterward, and you can return to your day right away.

How many sessions will I need?

That depends on what you are working on and how your body responds. Some clients feel a difference quickly, while recovery and pain goals are usually supported by a short series of sessions. Your practitioner will guide a plan that fits your goal.

Are there any contraindications?

Laser therapy is not appropriate for everyone. Eye protection is always worn, and the laser is not applied over areas of active cancer or malignancy. If you are pregnant, have a history of cancer, are sensitive to light, or take photosensitizing medication, let your practitioner know and consult your physician first. Laser therapy is not a substitute for medical care.
